The Montana 2020 gubernatorial race will be one of the most watched of the election season in our state.
The Democrats and the Republicans both have contested primaries; the Libertarian and Green parties have each fielded one candidate.
There are three Republican gubernatorial primary candidates with running mates: Tim Fox (Jon Knokey), Greg Gianforte (Kristen Juras), Al Olszewski (Ken Bogner).
Montanans for Limited Government has not only recommended each of the Republican candidates and their running mates to voters in the past four years, but has also had digital ad spends during that time for Fox, Knokey, Gianforte, and Juras.
Tim Fox for Attorney General in 2016
Jon Knokey for HD65 in 2016
Greg Gianforte for Governor in 2016
Greg Gianforte for U.S. House (Special Election) in 2017
Greg Gianforte for U.S. House in 2018
Kristen Juras for Montana Supreme Court in 2016
Al Olszewski for SD06 in 2016

Montanans for Limited Government has published legislative scorecards for the 2017 and 2019 legislative sessions, which can be found here and here. Jon Knokey, Al Olszewski, and Ken Bogner were each scored depending on which session they were serving in the legislature. More scorecard data can be found at ACU for the years 2015, 2017, and 2019.
Tim Fox has no voting record, but his stance on key issues as Montana Attorney General for the past eight years can be found through internet searches.

Greg Gianforte is a successful software engineer and seated member of the U.S. House of Representatives. His scorecards from various conservative organizations, based on his congressional votes, can be found at ACU, Conservative Review, Freedom Index, Heritage Action, FreedomWorks, Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth, CCAGW .
Kristen Juras has no voting record. She has worked as an attorney in private practice and a professor at the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana.

Libertarian candidate Lyman Bishop (John Nesper) has no voting record. He is the CEO of Hoplite Armor, LLC.
A candidate questionnaire from MFLG was provided to the three Republican candidates in January and the Libertarian candidate in March. Voluntary responses were requested back by March 9. Republican candidate Al Olszewski and Libertarian candidate Lyman Bishop responded to the questionnaire; Tim Fox and Greg Gianforte did not provide responses.
A group of advisors to Montanans for Limited Government considered publicly available information, statements made by candidates at both public and private events, campaign web sites, policy positions, social media sites, voting records, and responses to the candidate questionnaire and recommends Al Olszewski for Governor. Montanans for Limited Government concurs.
